Buying an apartment can lead to court. Buying an apartment on the secondary market is also risky because once the apartment may be taken away from the buyer by the city authorities, which at one time for some reason did not enter into the rights to it. Over the past ten years, Moscow authorities have seized property in favor of the city treasury from dozens of people without compensation. The state is in no hurry to accept amendments to the Civil Code that protect the rights of a bona fide purchaser; therefore, many of those who purchase housing on the secondary market are at risk.
